Fundraiser profile: Paul

A huge thank you to Paul. Paul recently set up a birthday fundraiser for us. Instead of gifts this year, he asked his family and friends to make a donation to Children First Foundation instead.
Here, Paul tells us how he set it all up.
What made you decide to set up a birthday fundraiser for us?
My birthday was during the first lockdown, and since there was no chance to have a birthday gathering, I decided to set up a birthday fundraiser. Instead of birthday presents, I asked my friends and family to donate to Children First Foundation. It was a great way to raise money for a good cause, and it stopped all the ‘what do you want for your birthday’ questions.
Why did you choose to raise money for Children First Foundation?
I have followed Children First Foundation for many years and like the work that they do. While looking at the charities available to raise funds for on Facebook, I was rapt to see Children First Foundation listed.
How easy was it to set the fundraiser up on Facebook?
It was very easy! Just follow the steps below.
- Click ‘Fundraisers’ under the menu in Facebook.
- Then select ‘charity’ or ‘fundraising for non-profits’ (depending on whether you are setting it up using your smartphone or PC).
- Then search for Children First Foundation.
- Set your goal (I chose $500).
- And you are ready to go!
Once I’d done the above, I shared my fundraiser on my Facebook profile and sent a message to all my friends with a link to it via Messenger – and then I simply watched as the donations rolled in! I was really happy to see how all my friends and family got behind it.
